During 2012 I wrote a series of noir/pulp style stories about the private investigator “Father Black”. Working in Monstropolis, the decaying urban center of the free world, this Satanic free agent becomes more and more bitter by the day. And night. The entire world, including his own, is falling to pieces. People around him always show their very worst sides, whether he wants it or not. Yet he still has an inherent sense of justice, one that moves beyond corrupt legislation and existing structures. Embracing his own shadow and trusting his own common sense more than any established morals, Father Black is a dark force to be reckoned with. When Father Black is on a case, there will be justice. It’s not going to be pretty but, then again, what is pretty in a world like his? FATHER BLACK: OUT OF THE TWILIGHT – Father Black? – Speaking. – Good. This is Captain Hollow, from downtown. We met some years ago, I think. You remember, the case with...
Upcoming books from Trapart
With Vanessa’s Sinclair’s brilliant collection of cut-ups and poetry, Switching Mirrors, at the printers, it’s high time to take a look at what’s in store for the near future (meaning the next three months basically). Three titles are more or less scheduled right now, but there will of course be more during 2017. California Infernal: Anton LaVey & Jayne Mansfield as portrayed by Walter Fischer I knew this was going to be a popular book, but can happily say that it’s been doing really well, and that fast. A new, expanded edition, tentatively called “the Mansfield edition”, is now in the works. Collector Alf Wahlgren and myself are prepping and planning, and we’ll integrate more LaVey photos and also eight new colour pages with Jayne Mansfield-photos to truly knock your socks off. Very few copies remain of the first edition and the deluxe edition, so if you want to secure a copy you’d better act fast. Get happy at TRAPART...
Vanessa Sinclair’s “Switching Mirrors” available for pre-order
I’m very proud to have been part of the manifestation of this brand new gem on Trapart Books. Switching Mirrors is an amazing collection of cut-ups and mind-expanding poetry by Vanessa Sinclair. Delving into the unconscious and actively utilising the “third mind” as developed by William S Burroughs and Brion Gysin, Sinclair roams through suggestive vistas of magic, witchcraft, dreams, psychoanalysis, sex and sexuality (and more). Causal apprehensions are disrupted by a flow of impressions that open up the mind of the reader. What’s behind language and our use of it? What happens when random factors and the unconscious are given free reign in poetic form? Switching Mirrors is what happens. Vanessa Sinclair, PsyD, is a psychoanalyst and clinical psychologist in private practice in New York City. She is a founding member of Das Unbehagen: A Free Association for Psychoanalysis, which facilitates psychoanalytic lectures, classes, and events in and around New...
An e-book adventure begins
So, OK, I love books. Actually I’m obsessed with books. I write them, publish my writings in book form, and also publish other people’s books. I buy them, collect them, care for them, touch them, and quite often sleep with them too (the books are above the blanket, I’m not). Since the emergence of “e-books” I’ve repelled the idea itself: who in her/his right mind wants to read on a digital “platform” and not caress an actual book? Unfortunately, quite a lot of people it seems. End times! However, I’m also vain so of course I want people to read my books. That’s why I’ve now made Mother, Have A Safe Trip and Fanzinera – Photographs 1985-1988 available as e-books. I’m not really comfortable with all of this yet but what the hell… If you actually buy them as e-books, I’ll forgive you. Because with that money I can publish more real books so I guess it’s a good scenario after all? Buy MOTHER...
