What we find inside ourselves during shocking and traumatic processes can guide us to a deeper understanding of how to work with the issue in question – and possibly other ones, too. Transformation is possible, no matter how traumatic the experience. It’s a soundtrack for memories, mourning, and meaning; emotionally blooming to send one human being off on a new adventure while the rest of us remain in awe of the fine line between life and death.

“In 2016, American poet Vanessa Sinclair and Swedish musician Carl Abrahamsson travelled in Portugal, recording Sinclair’s cut-ups and poems along timeless roads, breathtaking nature and majestic architectural structures. These recordings were then integrated in music by Abrahamsson. The pieces, as well as the totality, evoke not only geographical places the couple visited, but also states of mind and emotion. In a loose, free form and seemingly random manner, “Switching” and “Mirrors” are albums that penetrate the walls of expectations and keep on exploring inside the listener’s mind. When Carl Abrahamsson’s “The Larval Stage of a Bookworm” album was released, it was immediately hailed as a dark and experimental approach to Spoken Word poetry. Where many of the tracks did contain more traditional electronica/dark pop structures, there was of course also Abrahamsson’s “trademark” sound of dark layers of psychic collage-scenario sounds, backing up his soulful poetry. Interest in the album soon spawned the idea of having some of Abrahamsson’s favourite artists remix the entire album, and this is what has now happened. All of the tracks have been remixed by an international elite squad of electronica, noise, and experimental artists, with the apparent favourite song “Inside You is Outside Me” being remixed by four different artists! These are poetic, dark ambient, hard, ephemeral, emotional, aggressive, turbulent and electronic blasts straight from the underground. Listen to the original album, and then to this – or vice versa. No matter what, you’ll be tumbled through pure emotions and uncertain outcomes. Can you handle it? Carl Abrahamsson’s solo album “The larval stage of a bookworm” contains tracks recorded during 2017 and marks a distinct departure from both earlier solo works and his work with Cotton Ferox (2000-2017). The material is considerably more intimate, playful, experimental and honest than previous efforts. The result is an album which disrupts the listener, expectations, morals, attitudes and any references. This album is a personal statement in its poetic approach to words and formulations, and then amplified in its emotional tonality via musical structures that swing from harsh noise-clouds to pretty and romantic synth-scapes and tunes. It is truly one singular psychedelic experience, but one stemming from the joyous interaction between all the individual pieces.

Improvisations and lo-fi jams were recorded in 2009 and then treated very roughly. The album Imaginär Koherens was originally released as a limited edition CD in 2010 (only 100 copies made). A poetic fusion of guitar and electronics, voices and mishaps, percussive regressions and ulterior motives. And then some.”

This is Sinnelag’s soundtrack music for Carl Abrahamsson’s first feature film: the psychological thriller “My Silent Lips” (2019).
Young Swedish woman Alice travels with her abusive American boyfriend in the Balkans. As their relationship goes from bad to worse, Alice drifts more and more into an emotional void, which leads to violent repercussions. Lost in a strange land among bizarre characters, she’s forced to confront aspects of herself she’s utterly afraid of. As abuse and humiliations increase she no longer has a choice. Who will be the next victim? Alice herself or all of those who have ruthlessly exploited her?

“This album was originally released on CD together with the art fanzine BULT in the year 2000, in a limited edition of 300 numbered copies. The music was made by White Stains and Cotton Ferox member Carl Abrahamsson for his own art fanzine endeavor BULT. The album was mixed by Krister Linder, who at the time worked together with Cotton Ferox both in the studio and live on some occasions. As with much of Abrahamsson’s solo recordings, this album is considerably darker and more morose than the collaborations with Thomas Tibert (and others).”

COTTON FEROX: ALBUMS
TITLE: Dark Sexorcism
In 2007, Swedish duo Cotton Ferox (Carl Abrahamsson & Thomas Tibert) created a soundtrack for Abrahamsson’s photographic exhibition ”Olika Människor”. It consisted of the singles of their previous project, White Stains, played backwards, meshed with a brand new dark ambient ocean of sounds, including voices from the interviews with the people in the exhibition. A synaptic overload/meltdown/chaos in which the past truly met the future within the walls of damp space Drags Kraftstation in Norrköping, Sweden. It is an exorcism of the past and an invocation or creation of the future. Hence a violent yet fertile ”sexorcism” that leads up to the very point of your pressing PLAY today.

”Spiral Assembly Lines” collects singles and EPs from Swedish electronica/spoken word duo Cotton Ferox (2000-2018). These were released in the early to mid-2010s, and show the versatile dynamism of members Carl Abrahamsson and Thomas Tibert. Roaming from dark electronica, over spoken word dreaminess, to structured pop compositions, these tracks reflect the open-minded attitudes as well as the sublime production values of Cotton Ferox. The four final tracks of this release feature the vocal talent of Elisabeth Punzi (ex Whipped Cream) and were originally released under the project name ”The Mushroom Clouds.”

This debut album includes the vocal talents of Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, Michael Moynihan and Krister Linder, in sounds and structures ranging from electronic pop to dark soundscapes, weaving a web of seduction to host the powerful poetry of this spectral Swedish duo. Recorded at the legendary studio Konst & Ramar in Stockholm in the early 2000s, it was mixed and produced by Thomas Tibert & Carl Abrahamsson, and originally released on the band’s KOOKS label in 2002.

This classic spoken word album was recorded in Stockholm in 1989, as Genesis and Paula P-Orridge (Psychic TV) were on a mini tour of Scandinavia. White Stains (Carl Abrahamsson & Thomas Tibert) prepared musical backgrounds that were also used by the P-Orridges on this tour. In Stockholm, the material was properly recorded and mixed together at the band’s ”Reality Studio.” Originally released on CD by Psychick Release in 1990, the result has been hailed as a magical spoken word masterpiece, in which Genesis P-Orridge’s poetry and eloquent delivery professionally peaked. Enmeshed in the sensuous, psychedelic sounds of White Stains, and in Paula P-Orridge’s trippy samples, Genesis’ gentle and magical voice journeys from desperate depths to heavenly heights. ”At Stockholm” is a quintessential gem of a collaboration that has inspired countless similar projects in which ambient music nurtures evocative and powerful human words, and vice versa.
